GCCs Are Creating Tech Jobs Faster Than IT Companies in India

31/12/2025

Global Capability Centres (GCCs) - offices set up by international companies to run their key operations from India - are hiring tech professionals four times faster than IT service companies like TCS, Infosys, and Wipro.

According to a report by Team Lease Digital, GCCs are growing their workforce by 18–27% every year, while IT services are increasing only by 4–6%. The total number of employees working in GCCs has jumped to nearly 2 million, up from 1.2 million in 2022. That’s about 300,000 new tech jobs each year, compared to just 25,000–40,000 created by IT services during the same period.

Why GCCs Are Growing Faster

GCCs are taking on advanced tasks like artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, cybersecurity, and product engineering. These roles require deeper technical knowledge and domain expertise, which is why global firms prefer building in-house teams through GCCs instead of outsourcing to IT services.

Over 90 new GCCs opened in India this year, and 150 existing ones expanded. In total, this created about 160,000 new GCC jobs in FY25, and hiring is expected to exceed 200,000 next year (FY26).

Meanwhile, major IT service companies are slowing down. For example, TCS is reducing its global workforce by 2%, and other IT companies are also making quiet job cuts.

Higher Salaries and Better Growth

GCCs aren’t just hiring more, they’re paying better too. On average, GCC employees earn:

  • 15–25% higher pay for regular engineering roles.
  • 30–40% more for AI, machine learning (ML), and advanced tech positions.

They also have a higher job offer acceptance rate (60–70%), while IT services face more rejections.

What This Means for Job Seekers

If you’re looking for a tech career in India, GCCs offer faster growth, better pay, and exposure to cutting-edge technologies. These centres work directly with global teams on innovation, product development, and digital transformation projects, not just support work.

Experts believe this trend will continue in the coming years as more multinational companies choose India for high-value digital engineering and AI-driven projects.

So, for aspiring tech professionals, GCCs are now the best place to build a future-ready career in AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and product engineering.
